July seems like such a long time from Christmas to start thinking about the holiday and gifts. If you are going to make your gifts, you really do need to start a few months in advance.
Make a list of people who would like a craft gift and list some of their interests such as foods, candy, home décor, out door items. The list could go on and on.
Do an Internet search for crafts or gifts that you can make. You can search for candy or cookie recipes. There are bath salt recipes and other related items you can find on the net. Moms who have home based businesses would probably delight in receiving bath salts as a Christmas present.
Consider the items you will need to make each gift and make a shopping list. Be frugal in your shopping. If you are going to make baked goods, watch the grocery sales for items you can use. Some ingredients may need to be stored in the freezer for a few months for freshness.
Shop thrift stores, garage sales and craft stores for good buys on craft components for gifts that you will make. Don’t throw away jelly jars or other items from your home until you decide what you will need. Jars are good for bath salts and a lot of other gifts.
If you are a work from home mom, take inventory of your gift wrap, bows, ribbons and gift accessories. Start buying some of the items that you will need on a weekly basis.
Try to schedule some time that will be relaxing for you as a home based business owner to start making gifts that you can wrap long before the holidays. Pace yourself with crafting gifts and the holidays will be more fun than ever.
